We decided last minute to take a trip over spring break. It's been almost 2 years since we've been anywhere and since we are having a baby this summer and Eric will be graduating next summer, we decided now was the time whether we had the time and money or not!! So Dev left Tuesday afternoon to go back to Florida (Mom and Dad left Sunday to head to Toronto) and we left Friday afternoon after school. I tuned Wed, Thurs, AND Fri and had to get the house pulled together, the packing done, and plan food/get accommodations. It was crazy, but we pulled out around 3:15pm and drove to my sister-in-law's place by Omaha, Nebraska. We crashed there for the night and drove all day Saturday and arrived in Salt Lake City about midnight. We started the next morning by attending a live taping of 'Music and the Spoken Word' in the Tabernacle on Temple Square and that made all the driving worth it! We spent Sunday and Monday on Temple Square doing all the tours, visitors centers, the Joseph Smith movie in the JS Memorial building, 2 organ recitals in the Tabernacle, and the Church History Museum. The weather was great and Temple Square isn't crowded this time of year, so we got to see everything up close - even the tabernacle organ (got to sit on the bench!) We liked the Joseph Smith movie so well that we watched it twice. We also ate lunch in the historic Lyon House and took the elevator to the 26th floor of the church office building to see the view. (Poor Brig didn't care for that too much as he hates elevators).
We spent Tuesday and Wednesday in Provo. Thanks to Robbie, Scott, Whitney and Courtland for taking the time to hook up with us and show us around. It was great to see everyone! Also, thanks Robbie for pointing us to 'Maceys' for groceries - we loved the HUGE ice cream cones! The campus has changed a lot since Tracy and I were there and it was fun to look around and check out the museums and the planetarium. We also picniced up Provo Canyon one afternoon - Eric got a little sunburned!
Thursday we drove back to Jill and Craig's in Omaha and spent Friday and Saturday with their family. They are such gracious hosts!! Thanks for everything!! We went to the zoo and out to dinner on Friday and checked out Winter Quarters and just hung out on Saturday. Sunday we drove home. Whew!! Busy, but fun. It was also very nice to have that 3rd driver. Thanks Tracy and Eric for making it that much easier for the pregnant woman to travel!
